The City of Children and Teens

The city of children and teenagers is located in the Old Port, under the Genoa Aquarium, a place where learning becomes a fun and engaging experience, it is the first experience museum dedicated to the 5 senses: hearing, touch, sight, smell /taste.

The experience rooms to discover.
- Hearing room: the ear and its internal organs are essential not only to allow us to hear and distinguish sounds and noises, but also to allow us to maintain balance. By experimenting with the different experiences proposed in this room you will be able to discover how sound propagates or the characteristics that differentiate timbre, melody and harmony. You will have the opportunity to measure the intensity of the sound and learn more about acoustic principles. You will be able to test your balance abilities and understand their regulatory mechanisms.

- Touch Room : the hands are one of the most important parts of the body for our species: we use them to grasp objects and tools, to prepare food, to interact with other people. They are therefore very sensitive, and allow us, even with our eyes closed or in the dark, to recognize the hardness, consistency, roughness and shape of what surrounds us. However, touch receptors are not only present in the skin covering the hands, but throughout the body and among the information they record there is also pressure. In this room you can stimulate exploration and your curiosity with experiences that they will help us understand how fine the tactile perception of our body can be; understand the difference between active touch and passive touch; experience how this sense can replace sight.
Vista Room: in this room you can have a series of fun experiences that will help you understand how the transmission of visual stimuli works and learn about the different components of light and its forms. The composition of the eye and the perception of primary colors, red, blue and green; the creation of the image, whose biological principle is also used to compose digital images using pixels. You will be able to understand what a shadow is and how it is generated, experiment with refraction and the lenses used to magnify objects: glasses, telescopes, microscopes and optical telescopes.

- Smell/Taste Room: taste and smell are two closely connected senses and therefore presented in the same exhibition area of La Città. The experiences proposed in this area help to focus on the importance of developing one's own nutritional identity, as well as correct nutrition through the balanced composition of our meals.
