Heart of Florence Walking Tour - Small Group

Your discovery will begin in the ancient Medici family quarters , in the heart of Florence . You will walk along the same narrow streets once walked by the Medici, touching the stones used to build their residences and admiring the same monuments that were part of their daily lives. The first example is Palazzo Medici Riccardi , their first residence in the San Lorenzo district, where their church and mausoleum, the Medici Chapels , are also located. A few steps away you will reach the extraordinary complex of monuments that characterizes the religious center of Florence: the Duomo with Brunelleschi's incredible dome , the Baptistery of San Giovanni with the Gates of Paradise , and Giotto's elegant Bell Tower , considered the most beautiful in Italy.

The walk continues along the lively Via dei Calzaiuoli , in the heart of the city, where you can admire the Church of Orsanmichele , a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic art, adorned with aedicules bearing statues of the patron saints of medieval artisan guilds. We'll then reach the characteristic Straw Market : don't forget to rub the nose of the famous "Porcellino" and toss a coin into the fountain for good luck!

We'll finally arrive in Piazza della Signoria , one of the most beautiful squares in the world and the political center of Florence. In this true open-air museum, you'll admire the Fountain of Neptune with Ammannati's majestic statue and, all around, the masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi, such as Cellini's Perseus and Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine Women. Dominating the square is the Palazzo Vecchio, with its crenellated tower by Arnolfo, an iconic symbol of Florence. You can visit Michelozzo's courtyard and admire the palace in all its magnificence.

Continuing, you can admire the romantic and picturesque Ponte Vecchio , the oldest bridge in Florence, famous for its renowned jewelry shops.
